BBQ Wine Guide

With BBQ season in full swing, summer days are all about spending time with your favourite people and enjoying the best cuts on the grill! We’ve heard our new BBQ range is going down a treat and with so many delicious dishes to go at, we know it’s hard to choose.


Whether you’re a lover of the whole chicken, a burger (or two)! or perhaps a little spatchcock? We’ve delved into the best wines on the market, to enjoy with let’s face it, your best BBQ yet!


Red Wines:

Zinfandel: A robust and fruity red wine that complements smoky flavours. It pairs well with grilled meats, especially with wings and drumsticks.
Malbec: With its dark fruit flavours and velvety texture, Malbec is a great match for grilled steaks and burgers.
Syrah/Shiraz: This wine’s peppery notes and bold character work wonderfully with barbecued meats.


Rosé Wines:

Dry Rosé: A refreshing choice for barbecue, especially during warm weather. It pairs nicely with grilled chicken, seafood and vegetable skewers.


White Wines:

Chardonnay: Opt for an oaked Chardonnay to balance the richness of barbecue sauces. It pairs well with grilled chicken or shrimp.
Sauvignon Blanc: Its crisp acidity complements grilled vegetables, fish, and lighter meats. We must say, a glass of sauvignon alongside a Herb Fed dish, is right up there when it comes to the perfect moment. For us it has to be a glass of French La Vielle Ferme (Affordable and available in the Coop!) Fresh, citrusy notes just make the meal for us.


Sparkling Wines:

Sparkling Rosé: Celebrate with a glass of sparkling rosé alongside grilled chicken.


For the non-drinkers

There are one or two non-alcoholic wines out there which we return to, time and time again. One of these is the Spanish, Torres Natureo Rosé De-alcoholised Wine – its round, cherry undertones are a great match for our herby chicken.


For the special occasion-ists!

If you enjoy a few bubbles whilst tucking into your Herb Fed chicken, we’d recommend a bottle of Freixenet Prosecco Doc for its fresh and fruity notes, with aromas of flowers, citrus and apple – the perfect accoutrement to your Herb Fed meal.
